This past September I traveled to McAllen, TX with the NGO Circle of Health International, where I am the Communications Director. I went to take pictures and gather stories of the women and children we came there to serve. What I like about what I do is experiencing what's being covered in the news myself – no media machine, no politics, no agenda.

Over the last two and a half years of the conflict in Syria, the outside world has been focused primarily on the conflict’s political causes and its consequences for civilians. What has gotten much less attention so far is the conflict's roots in climate change.

Over the last few weeks, the U.S. Administration and other governmental authorities have referred to reports from several agencies, including Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), while stating that the use of chemical weapons in Syria was "undeniable", and it now seems that U.S. missile strikes in Syria are imminent.

This summer, COHI is excited and thankful to have two high school interns on board! Last week we introduced Sarah Shields and this week we're featuring Zoe Lane. These two have been instrumental in getting our Teen Board off the ground and we look forward to keeping them involved until they go off to college.
