Tirelessly working to provide healthcare to women and children in crisis settings is what COHI is known for, and we are committed to continuing this work for many, many years to come. Our community based allies and partners invited COHI to expand our health care based mission to include poverty alleviation programming. Therefore, in response, COHI is proud to announce the launch of our social enterprise programming.

The goals of this program include the production of maternal and newborn related products by at risk women from survivors of human trafficking and refugee mothers. The funds generated through the sales return to pay for health care for the women in the communities from which the products were produced.

The Miraculum Movement

COHI is thrilled to announce a new initiative to get lifesaving technology into the hands of mothers and girls to put out fires in homes, tents, and huts around the world.

More than a billion women use open flames to cook for their families and to heat and light their homes. Accidents are commonplace. In developing countries, severe burns affect nearly seven million people a year — particularly low-income women and children.

COHI will train community health care workers to educate women and girls on how to use Miraculum eco-friendly aerosol "fire extinguishers" to put out fires, keeping their families safe.

The JAF1295 Aerosols cover all types of fires except electrical, as the product is water based. This means that women and children do not have to know what type of fire it is prior to using it — a quick and reliable solution that saves lives.

Each one costs $25, including education for COHI-supported community health care workers.

Cloth Collective

Each year in the U.S. alone we use enough disposable diapers to fill Yankee stadium 15 times. This program makes its profound impact in the following three ways:

  • Providing income for numerous women living in at risk contexts such as survivors of human trafficking and refugee mothers;
  • Keeping 2 million dollars out of landfills in the first year of production; and
  • Providing healthcare to over 3000 women and children in humanitarian emergencies.
