During the fall of 2014 after a generous invitation from COHI's partners, MADRE, a COHI team traveled to Nicaragua to conduct a rapid health needs assessment, provide clinical care, and to attend a national indigenous women's forum hosted by Wangki Tangni.

COHI returned to Nicaragua in July 2015 to present the results the findings and to deepen our collaboration with the locally-based organization, Wangki Tangni. COHI's Clinton Fellow resided in Waspam, Nicaragua, for 8 weeks to determine possible program opportunities for COHI. Additionally, through COHI's on-going partnership with We Care Solar, COHI delivered and installed two solar suitcases to provide power in maternity clinics in the region, and trained women in the suitcases’ use and maintenance. Currently, COHI is providing much-needed medical supplies to local communities in and around Waspam through a joint shipment with MADRE.

Clinical and professional volunteers are welcome to apply. Fill out the Volunteer Intake Form to start the process.
